Civil disputes in Italy: practical questions

I have a contract dispute concerning a business or property in Calabria. What documents matter?

The signed agreement, amendments, invoices, payments, correspondence and evidence of non-performance should be gathered. Applicable law, jurisdiction and deadlines may also need examination.

Must a civil dispute in Italy always go to court?

Not necessarily. Depending on the dispute, negotiation, mediation or settlement may be appropriate; some matters require a preliminary procedure before proceedings can continue.

How are damages assessed in an Italian civil claim?

The analysis considers liability, causation, supporting evidence and the amount of loss, alongside procedural costs and the realistic options for resolution.
